This page covers the MyRepairMate Device Test app and this website. Both are run by Repair Supply Ltd.
Who we are
Repair Supply Ltd is a company registered in Scotland, company number SC662068. Our registered office is 16 Union Street, Dundee, DD1 4BH. To contact us about your data, use the form on the support page or write to that address.
On the phone
The app keeps your test results, and any grading you save, on the phone so you can look back at them. They stay there until you clear them in the app or remove the app. The app has no account, no adverts, and no analytics or tracking.
What the app asks to use
For most of these, the phone asks your permission the first time a test needs it. Each one is only used for its own test.
- Camera
- To test each camera lens, the focus and the depth sensors. Test photos are deleted straight away.
- Microphone
- To test the microphones and speakers. Recordings stay in memory and are deleted straight away.
- Location
- To test that GPS can get a fix. Your location is never saved or sent, only how accurate the fix was.
- Motion
- To test the motion sensors. Nothing is saved except whether they worked.
- Bluetooth
- To test that Bluetooth can find other devices. Only the number found is kept.
- NFC
- To test that NFC can see a card. The card's contents are not read or saved.
- Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint
- To test that the sensor responds. Nothing about your face or fingerprint reaches the app.
- Local network (iPhone and iPad)
- To talk to a repair shop's computer through the USB cable. Nothing is sent over your network.
- Phone state (Android)
- For the calls test, to see whether a SIM card is ready.
When results leave the phone
Only in two ways, and only to a repair shop.
- Over the USB cable to a shop's computer, when the phone is plugged into it for a test. The computer collects the results, and reads details such as the model, serial number, IMEI, battery and parts over the cable itself.
- Over the internet, when you choose Send to a shop or type a shop's job code. The app sends this to MyRepairMate (myrepairmate.com), the system the shop uses, for that shop:
- the result of each test you ran, and any grading you saved
- the phone's model, its iOS or Android version and its storage size
- the app's version
- the shop code and the job number you typed
- the IMEI and serial number, only if a repair shop's computer read them over the cable earlier in the same test
It never sends:
- your name
- your contacts, photos or messages
- your location
- any recordings or pictures from the tests
- any account details
Who gets them
Only the repair shop whose code you typed. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
This website
The contact form on the support page sends your name, email address and message to us by email, so we can reply. Cloudflare's Turnstile check runs on the form to stop automated spam. This site has no adverts or analytics.
